Introduction

Maussane sits at the heart of the 'Golden Triangle' of Arles, Avignon and Marseille. It can boast of many things, including that the local Olive Oil - of 'a year in provence' fame - is reputedly the best in France. You will find maps of the village centre, the surrounding area, and of South West France linked from the relevant sections described below. There are also a selection of maps in the house year-round to help visitors.

Your local region divides naturally in to four parts. The village centre covers all of your day to day needs, and everything that is within walking distance of your house. The surrounding towns and countryside link will take you to an overview of all that is with easy reach of your base in Maussane, excluding the Carmargue & the coast which has its own section. We have included a little information on where you can visit further afield, to give you a sense of where in France you are -if you're not familiar with the area.

Activities

There are far too many activities for us to cover them all here. This is the briefest of outlines. If you have a particular interest you would like to pursue while you stay here, we will be happy to talk about the local possibilities. The hills (Les Alpilles) between Maussane and St Remy are superb for mountain biking and walking, and the countless other options range from Les Baux's full 18 hole golf course to Horse Riding in the Carmargue national park.

Local events

As you might expect, there is broad selection, including bull-runs in several of the area's towns and villages. Maussane's week-long fete each summer briefly transforms the usually tranquil atmosphere.
